Summer is coming, and changes are a-foot. Some big changes in the back end of my web home. New server, new u.2 drive that can handle over 2,000MB read and write with a data path bandwidth of 40GB, we won’t be having any bottlenecks on the drive side. Another change is the move to MariaDB, mostly just like MySQL but better maintained and not owned by a company that can yank the license. One other backend change is the switch from apache to nginx (pronounced: engine-x). It allows for much faster static displays while using a ton less resources. It’s not quite as easy on the config side, but then apache was not for dummies either.
For those of you that follow the (themed) areas of the site, there are now over 17,000 images for your viewing pleasure, and most have links to add your own. The subjects continue to grow as people express their SFW interests.
The (groups) albums has again continued to grow, over 6000, as have the (con) albums, now at over 29,000, with upload links that allow anyone to share their photos, also updated with three more cons. Please check out the (help) page before uploading. You can see the latest photos posted in the gallery, within the last seven days, (here).
So what else is going on, the beast has a radiator leak so working on that, the shop project is progressing, but slowly, and the master bath project is about 60%. It’s getting warmer and greener around here, something California does not have, year around green. My tomato plant, started last spring, has provided us with fruit spring and fall last year and this; I never had a tomato plant grow year around.
Still tweeking the new server setup, so let me know if you find an issue.
